Description

I Can Tell (With OBI)" is a collection of photographs by Japanese photographer Osamu Kanemura, who studied experimental film at the Image Forum Institute of Moving Image when he was in his 20s before entering the Tokyo College of Photography, where he studied photography under Kiyoshi Suzuki. After that, he continued taking photographs while teaching at a photography school and working part-time as a newspaper delivery man. In 1996, when he was over 30 years old, he was selected as one of six photographers to receive worldwide attention at a special exhibition at MoMA. The following year, in 1997, he won the Newcomer's Award of the Photographic Society of Japan, the 13th Higashikawa Award for New Artists, and in 2000, at the second youngest age in history, the 19th Ken Domon Award. Since then, he has been featured on "Jounetsu Tairiku" (Continent of Passion), "Top Runner" and other programs, and is one of the leading contemporary photographers in Japan. This book is a collection of his photographs published in 2001, which won the Ken Domon Award. The book contains a number of illustrations that capture fragments of everyday urban scenes that everyone has seen. The beauty of multi-layered chaos created by effectively using contrasts of light and shadow and unique compositions of things such as streets, buildings, billboards, electric wires, grass, and trees. Kanemura's own photographic theory is also very interesting and highly recommended. With obi. publisher/published: 芳賀書店/2001 format/pages/size: paperback/-/278*210*10
